Our program started with two outstanding workshops. Christine Belange, former U.S. National Rising Star Latin Champion, emphasized the importance of body rhythm and timing in International Cha Cha. Her routine gave us some new material that would be suitable for social or competitive dancing. Ava Kaye presented a very creative American Tango routine. She emphasized the similarities and differences between closed position and shadow position. She and partner Dale Neale are the current Canadian Smooth National Champions! If you have not taken advantage of these wonderful workshops (at a bargain price!), you are really missing out.

Once again we had a highly qualified and competent judging staff. Our Chairman of Judges, Rex Lewis, kept the day moving smoothly, while giving all our dancers the best opportunity to perform well. He was capably assisted by: Ava Kaye, Dale Neale, Christine Belange, Diane Jarmolow, and Roberta Sun. Kay Teague, USABDA National VP for Youth College Network, was our capable Scrutineer. Many of our volunteers deserve special mention: Scott Sahlman, Pat Chan, Mary Yang, Rick Dale, Susan Thein and Miyoko, Dan Marshall, Dana Ben Yahuda, Jackson Chan, Brian Rose, Craig Cesarin, Lydia and Mark Scardina. Once again our hard working Board Members came through. Alex Chan supplied and played our fine music. Karen Andersen did her usual splendid job as M.C. Tina Moretti again deserves special mention. She runs the ticket sales and did all of our awards. An enormous amount of work goes into the preparation of these awards, and we really appreciate it. Turtle Brennan headed registration. Natalie Kirilcuk again did a great job organizing our Team Match. This time we had 4 teams in a very exciting competition. Karen Chow assisted with our ticket and merchandise sales.

The evening concluded with a great show by Canadian Smooth Champions, Ava Kaye and Dale Neale. They did a dynamite tango, a romantic waltz, and a swinging foxtrot! It was a lovely finish to wonderful day. Our Competitions are exciting and growing.
